As an avid animal lover and dog rescuer, I conceived the idea of Ruffles and Wags to help with the rescue efforts of the Pomeranian Rescue Group. I got involved in rescue about 7 years ago fostering dogs and cats, eventually serving as a coordinator for the Pomeranian Rescue Group.
As more Pomeranians were surrendered and overloading animal shelters, Pomeranian Rescue Group could not financially support the burden of the expenses involved in the rescue effort, so I wanted to help in anyway I could.
I recently renewed my interest in crochet after departing from the craft years ago. With each blanket and scarf I created my interest grew into a passion, and I began to crochet sweaters for my own dogs. Soon after, I got the idea to create a small business making dog sweaters so I could donate a portion of the proceeds to Pomeranian Rescue Group. “Ruffles and Wags” was created from my love and passion for the rescue effort of Pomeranians. Ten percent of all sales are donated to Pomeranian Rescue Group to help Pomeranian Rescue to continue saving the lives and finding loving homes for Pomeranians.
To date, we have rescued over 500 dogs and have placed them in loving homes. Recently, Pomeranian Rescue rescued 22 dogs from a Wyoming “Puppy Mill” and placed all 22 dogs within in 5 months. All the volunteers were excited to help with this effort!
Being able to do something that I love and help these precious pups is the least I can do for all that they do for us with their unconditional love and joy they bring to our lives.
Debra resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with her loving husband who helps with the operations of Ruffles and Wags, along with her beautiful daughter. Of course her family would not be complete without their fun loving pups, Riley, Chloe and Sydney whom you will see featured throughout the website along with their rescue buddies! Debra currently belongs to the Crochet Guild of America, the Humane Society of the United States, Snuggles Project, Home Again Rescuer’s and Best Friends Animal Society.
